For anyone that is so inspired by Jennifer's weight loss - I would like to inject a little reality. I am sick of seeing the commercial, and it is not anything to do with the singer, but more like I feel like it is false advertising.
I do not believe for one minute that this company has anything to do with the weight loss. Sure, she may have eaten their food, but there are two very big factors that could make ANYONE lose weight - for free.
#1 Her dream career come true. It is a well known fact that when you are doing something you love - it is not really like a job at all. This kind of job motivates someone with happy energy, which has no doubt helped.
#2 Tragedy. This poor woman suffered a terrible loss with the murder of her mother, brother, and nephew. Trauma can work 2 ways with people - causing them to overeat, or the opposite - and not eat enough.
A third possible factor would be the entrance of her new love and engagement - which boosts that happy energy, along with the exercise of sex, if applicable.

Hugh G Carley's short autobiographical story
This is a photocopy I have that says "Docket of Marriages Solemnized by The Rev Carley" and then underneath it "Autobiographical Sketch by Hugh G Carley, Jan 1866, with some family records."
Figured someone may want to read it - if you happen through here while researching him!
"There is a possibility that some knowledge of me and my past life may be wanted when I shall not be here to give it. I therefore write out a few facts touching my own past life.
I was born in Hancock, Hillsboro County, N.H. Nov. 27, 179_. My father was Elijah Carley who was born in Whittingham, VT. When I was quite young, my father moved into Dublin, a town a joining Hancock where he remained a few years, and when I was nine years, we emigrated to Vermont and settled in the town of Chelsea in Oringe (sic) County. Here I enjoyed the priviledges of the town school untill (sic) the springof 1814. My proficiency was perhaps average with other boys of my age and means - my parents were poor - having no means to advance their children in education & there being ten of us in number - we were thrown upon our own resources - we worked out as circumstances opened up before us. I being the oldest of six sons of course was subjected to hardships and privations of which the younger ones had no knowledge. At the time of which I am now speaking was a time of war between this country and England. Soldiers were needed to enter the army and my associates were going. Liberal bounties were given and I only sixteen and a half years old and small at that, could not remain at home. My imagination painted many brilliant scenes before my vision. I importuned my Father untill (sic) he gave his consent and on the 30 of March I enlisted in the 2nd Regt. Dragoons.
I will not carry you with me through a three years life in camp with all its temptations and allurements to vice. I resolved not to be ruined by them. I read much in my leisure hours. I studied to gain the approbation of my officers by being always at my post and doing my duty faithfully there. In this I suceeded. After I left the service I came into Maine. Here I worked on a farm & at lumbering for several years. Being tired of this I learned the Joiners trade.
In 1822 I married Anna Young of Jackson. Subsequently I went South, worked some in La. and Miss. and had a long fit of sickness. Came home poorer than I went.
There was a glorious revival of religion. I submitted my heart and trust to Christ but did not unite with any church and the result was perpetual backsliding. In this way I lived or rather stayed for thirteen years whan in a revival with the Christian brethren, I thought I got converted all over anew and then was baptized & united with the Church.
I was soon chosen Clerk of their yearly Conference in which capacity I served them 7 or 8 years. During my services as Clerk, I felt it was duty to take a more public stand in the cause of God and was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, and at once began to use my gift in calling upon sinners & urging them to repent and turn to God. In 1843 I was ordained to the work of the ministry. I should have said that in 1837 my Companion was taken from me by death and in 1838 I married the Widow Elizabeth Foss of Swanville where I removed my family. In 1841 or 2 I joined the Christian Church of that place. Subsequently this Christian Church and the F.W.B. Church blended together and all went into the Prospect Q.M. In 1850 I removed my family to Prospect though my standing still remaind (sic) with The Bellfast and Swanville Church. My mind is however made up to take a letter from them and unite with the North Prospect Church as soon as convenient."
I kept the misspellings as they were. There is a note at the bottom of the page:

I am related to royalty!
Although this should not surprise me since there is an old publication in England that profiles a royal link of 600 immigrants that came to America! For any amateur genealogists that come through here - maybe we are related! I will put a list below that shows how far back I have traced, but have stopped because the lineage of Thomas Wentworth and Margaret Fortescue is traced back and published!
I have found that when Thomas Wentworth married Margaret Fortescue - that is when the real royalty started with the descendants as her mother (Ann Stonor) who was a relation to King Edward I, and her father (Adrian Fortescue) was a relation of Charlemagne!
I like google/ blogger, and feel like this blog will be here LONG after I am gone. Because of this I feel confident that SOMEDAY someone will be doing some genealogy research - and what I post here will be of use. This information was a work in progress that started about 10 years ago, when ancestry.com was new. I bought a 1-year membership and made a mission to gather as much info as I could before losing it.
If you know me personally - or read back through a couple years - you will know I like to write books. I may only have one published - but i have a few more in the works. SOMEDAY - if I make it long enough to be able to dedicate time to putting together a book - I am going to make one and it will be as cheap as I can make it. Meaning - if i go through a self-publishing agency and they charge 3.28 + shipping - I will price it at an even $3.30. This is due to my anger at finding an ELY history book that I would love to read, as I am directly related to Ely, and it really makes me mad that I would have to pay 50$ for that book.
Anyway-> I spent the better part of a day going through my MANY binders and notebooks full of hand-copied censuses, etc - and organized everything with the help of ancestry.com's updated features. Boy - all I will say is that things have changed with the technology of this site and ANYONE with the genealogy bug, that has the money, should get a membership. I only have the free 2-week trial - so I am in major "gather" mode and darn it I should be hooking up my printer instead of blogging...
Something should be said of the Mormon site as well, since they have been (curiously, to me) keeping track of us for years. It is a good source for free information and in my opinion - the first place you should go to start. Get what you can - then head over to ancestry.com for the rest!
OK - here is my "lineage" or "line" I am not sure what you call it - but I have decided that I will publish a record of my line, from each of my 4 grandparents - all the way back, in a chapter in my autobiography!!!
Sir Roger Wentworth(1359)- Sir Philip W(1424) - Sir Henry "Despenser Sheriff" W(1447) - Richard "5th Baron of Nettlestead" W(1475) - Thomas W(1503: this is who married FORTESCUE)- Elizabeth W(1544: married John DAY)- Richard Day(1575) - Robert D(1601) - Mary D(1641: married Samuel ELY) - Samuel Ely(1668) - Samuel E(1701) - Simeon E(1734) - Simeon E (1762) - David E(1793) - Darwin E(1839) - Charles A Ely(1877) - Charles(19XX) - My parent(19XX) - Me(1972)!
Now keep a couple of things in mind if you are coming through here and see some names that vary. Simeon is listed in the records as both Simon and Simoen, but i checked and all the dates, spouses, parents add up. With the DAY line - I found that when they came from Scotland or Wales(the paper eludes me right now) - the name started as DEE and DEY, but then changed to DAY with that first ancestor in England. Darwin Ely is listed as Darwin except in one census, I believe, and they have him as DERWIN ELY - but again - the birthdates, children, and spouse all add up.
HECK! In a different line I found the census had my great grandpa listed as EGEA instead of what is on all the rest of the documents (including military) EZRA.
Now all I have to do is get my hands on 2 publications to quickly add the line between the Wentworths and ROYALTY - the "Magna Charta Sureties, 1215" and the "Plantagenetaancestry of seventeenth - century colonists"
Now if ONLY one of those genealogy-type shows would come and do a DNA test for me - because I have always wanted one, to fully know my genetic ancestral makeup.

Veterans being SCREWED
Yet another veteran being screwed situation has popped up, and I am re-posting the pertinent article for anyone who passes through to read.
http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/12/30/42665.htm
We know that what was formerly known as 'battle fatigue syndrome' became PTSD, and many soldiers are inflicted with it. I may be speaking prematurely - without knowing all the facts surrounding this case (malingering?), but in my opinion even if they had a preexisting personality disorder - and were seen as fit to serve, they very well could have developed PTSD from combat. Just the fact that the military saw them fit to serve should be enough.

I feel like I had the ghost of a Latina guiding my cooking last night!
Let me tell you - the "rice concoction" (as my deceased father would have called it) that I made last night was SLAMMING!
It started as "grandma's beef":
1 nice fat piece of fatty beef(I used 6 lbs)
1 can whole peeled tomatos (I used 2)
1 fat onion (I used 2)
S&P to taste
small bit of oil to fry (I used olive oil spray)
You are supposed to cook this in a cast iron pan, and I swear it just never tastes right unless you do, but it still tastes really tasty.
S&P each side of meat. Sear the meat for a couple of minutes on each side. Combine can of tomatoes and chopped onion in a bowl, squish tomatoes by hand. Pour as much of this mixture over the beef as you can without drowning it - the top of the meat cannot be submerged or in the end it will taste like boiled meat.
Now simmer this for as many hours as you can, minimum of 4 for it to taste right - but a good 6-8 hours makes it delicious! You will keep it on a low simmer, and if you end up with the juice disappearing, just add a little bit of water and stir. You can do this many times - but just NEVER cover it with liquid.
OK - so what I made last night involved about 2 1/2 lbs of cold leftover meat, and about 2 cups of the gravy/juice that was left.
On the side - I cooked 4 cups of long grain rice, with 4 cups of beef broth and 4 cups of water, set aside.
I sauteed big sliced chunks of onions, along with minced carrots (1 big carrot) until everything was tender, and sprinkled it with about a tablespoon of Hungarian paprika. As it was cooking I sliced the meat into 2 x 1 inch slices, and added it to the mixture in the pan. After stirring - I realized my mixture didn't have enough juice, and I dumped in an 8oz can of crushed tomatoes, another tablespoon of paprika, a pinch of salt and a bigger pinch of pepper.
I let this simmer on low for an hour, then added a rinsed can of black beans and a rinsed can of whole green beans, and heated through. Then I folded in most of the rice - until it had the right consistency. We like it like jambalaya, juicy and the rice doesn't overpower the rest of the ingredients.
Once this was done - it looked like something that you would get as a side dish in an awesome restaurant, and add a jalapeno to your bowl and YUM!

Tyra Bank's BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER
I am in shock right now. My girls and I have been watching America's Next Top Model for quite a long time now - and I thought for SURE that Tyra knew what she was doing! Tonight, to my horror - and probably the world's TOO - this OTHER girl won. This girl is named Lisa (blank) and I say (blank) because after watching the whole season I still can't remember her name. I can remember countless shots from Allison, Laura, Angelea, even Dominique - but nothing stands out with Lisa. If you said "The one that looks too old to be there" I would think Lisa, but never as the WINNER of the all-stars!
I thought ugly-pretty was the thing, not ugly-ugly. She was catty, argumentative, and I see no reason to label her an all-star. I am just so sickened. Perhaps Tyra is opening her own modeling agency and realizes how Allison could be the best investment for her? It is the only thing that makes sense?
I just actually searched for some good pictures of her - and could only FIND ONE. Go ahead and check for yourself - her name is Lisa D'amato and below is the best pic I could find in about 10 pages of google images:

On the other hand - a search of Allison Harvard turns up picture after beautiful picture. She is so beautiful that it makes you want to cry. Like some exquisite and rare creature you just want to shelter. I don't know what my fascination is with her - but I think it is much like they way The Game felt when he saw her. He said her face is like a work of art, as well as,"You are weird. And it is the greatest thing in the world for you. You are the most weirdly beautiful person I have ever seen in my life and your eyes, they're weird too, but they're great."
I am putting the video, and then the photos of her under that...

Hahaha - You FUNNY Nana YOU
Nana: I hear you're making my famous beef for Christmas Eve dinner?
Nunya: Yup
Nana: Oh, but you probably fry it...
Nunya: No, I just sear it on both sides like you and Grandpa taught me to
Nana: Well I just slow cook it
Nunya: Yes
Nana: Except for browning the outside of course
Nunya: Right Grandma...
Nana:I'm sure yours will be okay, but probably not like mine...
Inside my head - I am SCREAMING
AGGGHHHHhHHhhHHHHHHHrrRRRRRRRRGGGggggggRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
But then I think of how I have the power to pick my battles, and at her age I am sure the day will come that I would give anything to have her back - even if it is to nitpick me!
